Over Easter weekend 2015, a gang of elderly career criminals executed Britain's biggest burglary, stealing £14 million from London's Hatton Garden Safe Deposit. The average age of the gang was 60.
THE GANG:
THE METHOD: Using a Hilti DD350 heavy-duty drill, they bored through a 20-inch concrete wall over Easter weekend, then used a hydraulic ram to open 73 deposit boxes.
THE MISTAKE: Police planted listening devices at the Castle pub in Islington where the gang met to divide the loot. Recorded conversations led to their arrest.
THE MYSTERY: Only a fraction of the £14 million was recovered. Three gang members were jailed again for refusing to reveal where the money was hidden. Terry Perkins died in prison in 2018.
